GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION:
Reports To: President and Project Manager and Millwork Engineer
Schedule: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, Typical hours per week 40-50
Compensation: Salary + Performance Pay
Benefits: 10 Days PTO after 3 months, Paid holidays

ROLE SUMMARY: The Shop Manager (SM) is assigned a portfolio of projects. The SM is the primary responsible party for planning, sourcing materials, assigning/tracking shop tasks and ensuring that the assigned projects deliver on time, within budget and to Nine Thirteen Interiors quality standards. The SM leads, manages and coordinates the efforts of all parties involved in shop fabrication.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS PROFILE:
Knowledge and experience in architectural millwork fabrication, installation, and design
Has a strong desire to accept the role of managing a custom woodshop and the willingness to advance the shop, assist with team growth and the drive to dedicate strong effort to the company mission
Keen ability to collaborate with managerial teams including engineers, project managers, field carpenters, and suppliers
Ability to effectively plan, sequence, and prioritize operational tasks in order to meet schedule demands
Must have a wide range of wood products knowledge in order to accurately procure, mill and prepare and oversee products before delivery for installation and finish with a good eye for detail and quality
Solid understanding and ability to adapt to production schedule changes
Knowledge and understanding of machinery upkeep, maintenance and safe operation
Anticipate by thinking long term, proactively, and creatively to avoid delays and maintain quality
Must be able to lead, work by example and train those willing to learn and advance in a team atmosphere
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meet with Production Manager and Engineer/Draftsperson to review projects
Ensure that the shop has the proper inventory to effectively fabricate products
Decide what resources are required (materials, supplies, tools) and make sure they are available on time
Manage inventory and organization of consumables
Pro-actively produce mock-ups and samples for client meetings
Liaise among different departments, e.g. suppliers, installers, deliveries
Be the last seal of approval for all work leaving the shop
Work with team to estimate and track labor budgets
Assist and motivate the team through leadership
Review worker performance and make recommendations
Identify training needs and continuing education opportunities
Maintain tools and machinery and keep a clean a safe working environment
Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
Be responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install complex door units
Install pocket door framing and hardware
Install up to 3 piece crown moldings
Install multi piece casings and baseboards
Ability to thoughtfully layout and build site built storage for basic and complex closets
Layout and install complex wall paneling of all types
Install complex entry door units
Install complex built-ins
Install complicated hardware
Layout and install coffered ceilings
Install basic stair, stringers, skirts, treads, risers, mouldings, straight handrails, baluster layouts
Build simple cabinets including doors & drawer installation
Layout and install complex columns and beams (recessed/raised panels, decorative mouldings)
Ability to teach up to Support Carpenter level
