high school carpentry internship

GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION:

Reports To: Shop Production Manager
Schedule: Typically 3:00 – 5:00pm, Monday-Thursday. Maximum 8 hours/week
Compensation: $12/Hour
Benefits: Paid experiential learning opportunity

ROLE SUMMARY: This position at Nine Thirteen is 90% good character and 10% skill. The Carpentry Internship is an entry level position with the understanding that he/she will learn and grow their knowledge base. If you have an interest in working with your hands AND brain in a high end, quality based architectural wood shop then this is a great opportunity. No previous experience necessary

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS PROFILE:

  • Reliable and Punctual

  • Respectful with a collaborative nature and team attitude

  • Curious with a growth mindset

  • Good communication skills

  • Able to safely lift up to 30 pounds and walk/stand for 2 hours consecutively

RESOURCES:

Training for use of the following:

  • Use of the CrowsNest app for time tracking

  • Various finish sanders and techniques

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Humble and ambitious attitude including the ability to accept constructive criticism with your learning in mind

  • Assist Shop Carpenters in performing both non-technical and technical project tasks (skill permitting) including: sanding, shop cleaning, trash and dust removal, assist in lifting and organizing

  • Determination and can do attitude

  • Ask questions about things you don't fully understand; drive your education and experience

  • Keep the company mission and core values in the forefront of your work and be an example of positive company culture

  • Accurate and timely record keeping within the CrowsNest app
